i have also been looking for this type of program. I have just started using something called cam video downloader. its very easy to install and use, but you have to buy it. i dont know how much it is though, as a friend passed it to me. but i strongly recommend it.
What I have had tried is converting the video first to .flv file and then convert .flv to .mpg or .avi.
I search this online and found many on site free tool converting these YouTube videos.
