My passport will expire this February. Good news for me! The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) recently launched their Passport Appointment System by Internet last January 14. Now I can renew my passport without too much hassles.
Here are some important information about this system as posted on their press release.
Who Can Avail of the DFA Passport Appointment System Initially the DFA Passport Appointment System will be open to the following passport applicants:
a. Those whose passports have already expired;
b. Those whose passport will be expiring within the next one year;
c. Senior citizens (More than 60 years old)
The DFA Passport Appointment System will be expanded to cover all passport applicants in due time
Procedure:
1. Qualified passport applicants may avail of the DFA Passport Appointment System by sending their request via internet, email address: appointment@dfa.gov ph
2. Passport applicants applying for appointment must provide the following information:
a. Full name of applicant (first name, middle name and surname);
b. Date of birth;
c. Place of birth;
d. Latest Passport Number and Date of Issuance
3 Application for Appointment must be made one, week before the proposed date of appointment.
4. Applicant must wait for the confirmation of the proposed appointment and take note of the reference number that will be provided by DFA-Passport Office before proceeding to the DFA for the filing of the passport application.
5. Applicant must be at the DFA Passport Office (Special Area for those with appointments) at the confirmed designated date and time for the filing of the passport application.
This is a good move by the DFA. No more queuing. At least, I could see that my taxes are going somewhere beneficial. 🙂
I’ll try this system and will post my experience. Should I wear this shirt when going there? LOL!

Is it better to renew passport online? Kasi yung mom ko online lang. They will pick-up all the requirements first then deliver if it’s done. Yun nga lang almost a week din ang paghihintay. Naku March 2008 ang expiration ng passport ko. 😉
nakapagpa renew ka na ga?
wear that shirt, idamay mo kami ni qroon pag nagpagawa ka 😀
The appointment system sounds pleasant to the ears but it is ABSOLUTELY NOT what everyone is expecting. When you say that you have an appointment on that day, you’ll expect that there wont be long lines and what not. But lo and behold, you have to wait for FIVE HOURS to finish your passport application!
Please don’t go on media telling everyone that it would only take 30 minutes for you to get your passport because that ONLY APPLIES TO CELEBRITIES AND NOT TO THE MAJORITY.
One more thing about the so called “COURTESY LANE”. It is universally known that courtesy is given to SENIOR CITIZENS, PREGNANT WOMEN, DISABLED AND CHILDREN. My 4yrs old son applied for a passport but he WAS NOT given any courtesy so HE HAD TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER THREE (3) HOURS JUST TO HAVE HIS PICTURE TAKEN compared to those people who were given some courtesy simply because THEY KNOW SOME PEOPLE WHO ARE EMPLOYED AT DFA AND WERE ESCORTED TO THE COURTESY LANE. And the DFA employee wasn’t even patient enough to take a photo of a 4yrs old kid. Whats up with that? The kid waited for that long, you dont expect him to be in a good mood, right?
I’m sure this feedback will not be given any importance and what not but I hope I was able to send the message across.
