Speed Up Indexing Using The Feed Widget

Although I’m using WordPress on this blog, I never and will never forget the first blogging platform that I fell in love with, Blogger. I’m still maintaining some blogs there. My textmates is still hosted there.

Now, here is a technique I’ve discovered just recently. Aside from having interlinking links (redundant?) among your blogs main pages, you can get links to your permalink pages by using the Feed widget. By using it, your newly posted blog post can already have links from your other blogs once the feeds were updated. It’s a good way for your new blog post to be indexed faster by Google since the link has no nofollow tag on it. Why? Of course, the more link it is to your page, the faster the Google spider can find your new blog post.

Feed Widget You can see the Feed widget in action on my Paradise Philippines blog. Look at the sidebar. You will see 4 of my blogs there, with links to my new blog posts. The link list automatically updates when I have a new post on those blogs. See, if I apply this to all of my blogs, my new blog post automatically get links from them, speeding the indexing process. The faster you get indexed, the faster people will find your new blog post, right?

How do you add the Feed widget? Just look at the Blogger help. It is as simple as adding the Adsense ads (Add Page Element), a simple drag and drop. Of course, you need to specify the Feed URL. But that’s basically just that easy.

  2. REally? Thanks for this tip. I have been ignoring the feed widget in my blogger since I started using this platform. Now that I got this tip from you, I will then apply it in my blog from now on. Thanks!
