I am currently attending an AS/400 training, and part of the training is hands-on exercises. Syempre, dapat lang na may hands-on dahil walang kwenta ang training kung puro salita lang. I find the training really challenging. Kasi naman, the development environment is so jurassic that you need to familiarize (or memorize the commands) yourself with the commands in order to accomplish your task at a reasonable time.
Added to the challenge is the scarcity of AS/400 information on the internet. Meron ngang public library ang IBM, but the explanations are so Greek to me. I need to read the explanation twice and test the command on my machine to see if what I’ve understood is really what the command does. Yeah, the information are scarce (or maybe I should learn more googling strategies?). Wala akong makitang masyadong sample codes na pwede kong kalikutin. Laging from scratch ako nag-uumpisa. Anyway, mas maganda yun, mas masaya. Mas naeexercise ang aking mga brain cells. Hehehe.
I just finished my exercise kaya heto, blog muna. Nagawa naman ng ginawa kong logical file ang pinapagawa nung requirement na ibinigay sa amin. And since hindi pa tapos ang mga kasama ko, petiks muna ako. Mamaya na lang ulit ako magbabasa ng mga sunod na topic.
Well, maybe, I should start blogging about AS/400. Para may instant manual ako on the net kapag nakalimutan ko na yung ibang commands. Siguro, kapag nasa mood ako, I’ll start putting some notes here.
Yun lang!
